“A SPY FOR A SPY” PUZZLE CONTEST – will open on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, set up in the Hall. It will close on September 17 – Winner or winners to be announced at Perk and Glaze on the 18th. Note: Mystery Book on table with the puzzle – please do not take – answer to puzzle in my office.
We will open SEPTEMBER with a “NITE OF MYSTERY DINNER” - WEDNESDAY, the 2nd , at 6 p.m. Our menu will include Loin of Pork Roast, Sweet Potatoes and Apples Au Gratin, String Beans, Caesar Salad and Dessert. Cost 5.50 each. Sign up in hall.
On THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 3RD – BOWLING ON THE Wii will open in the Living Room, led by Danielle at 1:30 p.m. Sign up in hall. Note – we will start out bowling each Thursday - and if enough interest will carry it through the month of September.
DONUTS and MUFFINS will return to PERK & GLAZE on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, at 7:30 a.m. – and will also be on the menu on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25TH. On FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, we will have TOASTED ENGLISH MUFFINS – and on the 18th introducing “PEACH STUFFED TOAST” – adding Sausage, Juice and Coffee - $3.50 each.
JOE’S PLACE will continue to be open each SATURDAY, at 4 p.m. - Bring a snack to share and your own beverage. It’s a wonderful time to get together – especially during the time when so many are up north or traveling the country.
“USA – LABOR DAY” PICNIC – to be held on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 at 5 p.m. Menu to include Hamburgers or Hot Dogs, Potato Salad, Baked Beans and Dessert. Cost - $5.00 each. Sign up in hall.
“911 – REMEMBRANCE DINNER” is planned for FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, at 6 p.m. It’s time to have an ALL AMERICAN MEATLOAF, - Potluckin’ Mashed Potatoes, Tossed Salad, Veggie and Dessert. Cost for the Meat Loaf will be divided by all, with money collected that evening. Seating 8 at each table. Sign up in hall.
Our MONTHLY MILLIN’ GOLF will be held on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, at 7 p.m. Bring your dollar entry fee and a snack to share. (If you had leftovers from Joe – just count that as your snack, but be sure if needs refrigeration to put it in one in the kitchen before you leave for home – so that when you return you need only to take it out...................and be ready for the game.
Have made reservations for the “DISNEY ON ICE: WORLDS OF FANTASY” SHOW on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, at 5 p.m. Seating in the 8th row in our favorite location. Cost - $24 each with a minimum of 10 – our reservations are for 20. Money to be collected on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, at 11 a.m. Sign up in hall.
CHAIR DANCING REOPENS IN THE LIVING ROOM LED BY DANIELLE – on MONDAYS, beginning at 11 a.m. – and continues through the month of SEPTEMBER. Come out and join in. It’s not only fun and fellowship, but an exercise that if you have a problem with balance – this may be for you!
Our TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH a THRIFTY SHOPPING TRIP will be held, departing at 7:45 a. m , with our first stop at the WHITE ELEPHANT THRIFT. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. “on the dot” – and we don’t want to miss out – that is the reason for our early departure. As in the past we will be enjoying our lunch at OLIVE GARDENS IN NAPLES. Sign up and designate whether you are willing to drive or need a ride.
FLU SHOTS will be given on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Don’t forget your Medicare Card Part B – and the VNA will bill Medicare; Medicare HMO or Advantage Plan – individuals will have to pay and a receipt given to send to your insurance company for reimbursement. Flu Shots are $30 – and Pneumonia - $40. Sign up in hall.
In the evening on SEPTEMBER 16th a “HAYSTACK” DINNER is planned at 6 p.m. Our HAYSTACK includes Crackers, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Green Peppers, Olives, Onions Rice Ground Beef, Spaghetti Sauce, Tortilla Chips, topped with Cheese Sauce (if you so desire) and Salsa. We’ll add Ice Cream for Dessert and Coffee. Cost $5.50 each.
Time for a change at PERK AND GLAZE on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 7:30 a.m. – PEACH STUFFED TOAST – “remember we experiment in the summer months – and I know you are going to say we are approaching Fall – well!” We’ll add Sausage, Juice and Coffee. Cost $4.00 each with Sausage - $3.50 without. Sign up in hall – and check whether you wish the Sausage added.
CANASTA WAS BROUGHT BACK LAST MONTH – LET’S TRY IT AGAIN – SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19th at 7 p .m. Sign up in hall. Let’s bring two quarters to make it more interesting.
FALL COW FLOATS will be served on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, at 6:30 p.m. – the day before the 1st Day of Fall. As you must be curious – the floats are made up of a Scoop of Chocolate Ice Cream and Orange Sherbet, adding Ginger Ale. Sometimes we all need a change.........so this is our 2nd one for SEPTEMBER. Cost $1.50 each – with a program following.
On TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, have planned a “CRUNCHY TUNA WRAP” LUNCHEON at 12 noon. Found this to be packed with protein-rich tuna and fresh veggie crunch, with a sensational flavor. Veggie ingredients are Water Chestnuts, Green Onions, Celery, Sweet Green Pepper, and Lettuce. They are wrapped in a Spinach Tortilla. A Fruit Cup and Dessert will be added – cost $4.00 each. Sign up in hall. Bring you table service.
LAVERNE IS GONE ON VACATION SO...........LET’S GO OUT FOR PIZZA DOWN THE STREET FOR DINNER at NINO’S - THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, at 5 p.m. Sign up – and check whether you wish to drive or need a ride.
On SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH we’ll meet to enjoy a PINEAPPLE/MANDARIN SUNDAE at 6:30 p.m. Sign up n hall – and don’t forget you Bowl and Spoon. We’ll play CORNTOSS following our Dessert.
A trip to the SOUTHWEST FLORIDA MUSEUM OF HISTORY is scheduled for TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, departing at 9:15 a.m. Added to the many historical exhibits located in the Museum, we will have the opportunity to see the SPECIAL EXHIBIT OF NICKI & CLYDE BUTCHER. The exhibit will include 30 of their photographs – hers, hand-colored photos of vintage Florida scenes; his monumental black and white landscapes. Cost with a minimum of ten is $7.50 each. Money to be collected on MONDAY SEPTEMBER 28, at 1:30 p.m. Lunch will follow at the SHRIMP SHACK – remember your coupons. Sign up in hall - designate whether you are willing to drive or need a ride.
We will “BUILD A PEANUT BUTTER WRAP/WITH ALL THE WORKS” on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, at 12 noon. Wrap, Peanut Butter, Veggies and Fruits – Ice Cream Bars - $3.00 each.
